BØLGELAND

The third edition of the modular light art concept previously presented in AD CORONAM and COMMUNICATOR, BØLGELAND (which translates to ‘Waveland’) was presented as part of Copenhagen Light Festival 2023, and on show from February 3 till February 26, from sunset till 10 pm.

Using LED-strips and a complex electronics system, the artwork’s 15 light waves in formation display a distributed video animation of intertwining wave graphics subtly disrupted by abstract color, objects and glitches.

The artwork was accompanied by an artist talk at Nordatlantens Brygge on February 23 (Facebook event here).

Supported by Statens Kunstfond, Christianshavns Lokaludvalg, Copenhagen Light Festival and Nordatlantens Brygge.

Technical assistance: Gadget Group and the residents of Labitat hackerspace.

Materials: Aluminium, plastic, WS2812B LED-strips, Teensy 3.2 microcontroller, Raspberry Pi 3B+, various other electronics
